Understanding the results

What these results mean

Public IP and reported location

Your public IP is the address our endpoint sees as the source of your request. It is not your device’s address on your local network. When network acceleration is enabled, requests to this page routed through your selected route will usually show that route’s exit IP.

Country and region are based on IP geolocation data, not your device’s precise location. Database updates, ISP address assignments, and routing can all affect the result. It cannot be used to determine your home address.

ISP and proxy detection

ISP refers to the internet service provider or network organization associated with the public IP. When you connect through an international route, this may show the provider of the exit network rather than your local broadband provider.

Proxy detection is a result supplied by the endpoint, not a definitive assessment of connection status or privacy. A result showing no proxy does not mean your request did not pass through one. If the endpoint cannot determine this, the page will say so.

DNS checks

A changed IP doesn’t mean DNS has been verified

This page checks the IP address used for HTTP requests. It does not automatically test DNS resolvers or confirm that there are no DNS leaks.

DNS translates domain names into network addresses. Browser traffic and DNS queries may take different routes, so even if your public IP has changed, you’ll still need to check separately that domain lookups follow your intended connection settings.

  1. Note your settings before connecting. Check your public IP on this page, then review the DNS settings in your system’s network configuration and see whether your browser has its own Secure DNS setting enabled.
  2. Check your client after connecting. Confirm that the route is connected, then review your routing mode and DNS settings. If your browser uses a separate DNS resolver, make sure it follows the intended route; checking only your system settings may not be enough.
  3. Check again and compare. Return to this page and select “Check again.” If your public IP hasn’t changed, first check whether this page’s request is set to connect directly. The same IP by itself does not prove a DNS leak.
  4. Check the resolver separately. For further verification, use your operating system’s network diagnostic tools or a trusted, dedicated DNS testing tool to compare resolver details with your connection settings. A difference between the resolver’s location and the exit IP’s location does not necessarily indicate a leak.

Query privacy

We don’t log queries

The lookup uses an endpoint on this site to return the public IP and network details for your current request. We don’t log queries or switch to a third-party public lookup service if the endpoint fails. Results are shown only on this page and are not saved in your browser’s local storage.

Your IP address may reveal information about your network. Consider masking the full address before sharing a screenshot or asking for help. See our Privacy Policy for details on data handling.
